Austin hotels with rooftop pools
Y’all know Austin gets pretty dang hot in summer. Bless your heart. Here’s a few places you can cool off. These hotels all have great rooftop pools, some with a bar as well so you can sip’n dip.
The Westin Austin Downtown
The pool at the Westin Austin Downtown is the highest rooftop pool in Austin. Most are actually on top of the parking garage, but this one’s right on top of the hotel so the views are amazing. It’s been voted the worlds best hotel pool. Be warned it gets pretty crowded on the weekends.
Hotel ZaZa Austin
Hotel ZaZa has a kick ass rooftop pool and bar. The pools open till 8pm and Cabana Bar closes at 7pm. But the party runs all day with cocktails by the pitcher. The hotel itself is one of Austin’s finest with luxurious rooms, and exceptional dining.
W Austin is a high-end luxury hotel with a great rooftop pool aptly named Wet Deck. On weekends it’s an adults only affair, that pool looks like people soup. Picture tattooed arms grasping plastic cocktail cups, tanned flesh spilling out of bikinis, DJs are spinning, and drinks are flowing. It’s not the place to take the kids, it’s a place to make the kids.
Fairmont Austin is perhaps the best rooftop pool and bar in Austin. The pool is far larger than most. Weekends here can be ‘fun’ especially if there’s an event on, you’ll want to book a cabana. But it’s also a great place to just cool off on a hot day during the week. The Fairmont itself is luxurious, clean and modern. This is a great hotel for young couples, or the young at heart.
JW Marriott has one of the largest pools, the biggest deck and great cabanas. The hotel is a really solid 4 star luxury hotel in a great location for couples. 2nd street is between the lake and 6th street so there are plenty of options for both daytime and after the sun goes down.
Sneaky evening swim under the fairy lights? The pool at the Hilton Austin is really nice and not the party spot of some others on this list. But it’s beautifully clean and has great views of the city. It’s the perfect spot to cool off on a hot Texas day. Nothing relieves a hangover like an early morning swim.
Austin Proper Hotel
Austin Proper Hotel is indeed a proper hotel with a proper rooftop pool and bar. This is a simply stunning hotel voted one of the best new hotels in North America in 2020. And is one of our picks for best rooftop pool in Austin too.
Austin Marriott Downtown
Austin Marriott Downtown is another great rooftop pool with stunning views and a fabulous tiki bar. This is a massive luxury hotel that was only completed in 2021 so everything is nice and modern. It’s right next to the convention centre an clearly targeting business travelers, but it’s a great spot for couples too.
The Otis Hotel
The Otis Hotel is on the north edge of downtown close to the UT campus. Because of this its rooftop pool is popular with younger folks. In addition to hotel guests they also sell a pool membership and have some awesome parties. Could be the place if you’re looking for a sugar baby?
South Congress Hotel
South Congress is a smaller boutique hotel, so the pool is not huge. But it is a great spot to relax with friends on a hot day, enjoy a drink at the relaxed bar, and cool off with a quick dip. This is a more laid back experience than WET or the Fairmont on a Saturday afternoon.
Colton House Hotel
Colton House in South Congress has a pretty sweet rooftop pool. It’s not the party spot that some of these others are. But if you want a luxurious boutique hotel with no crowds and a great pool, then this is the one.
Omni Austin Hotel Downtown
Omni has some of the best views from their rooftop pool. It’s a true gem, and its open till 11pm which is a lot later than many others on this list. Poolside dining is available until 9pm. The pool area is only open to registered guests so it’s quieter than some other hotel pools in downtown Austin.
Kimpton Hotel Van Zandt Austin
Kimpton Hotel Van Zandt is located in the heart of Austin’s downtown. The rooftop pool is classier than many others with a great fire place for the evenings and lovely wooden decking. There’s cabanas you can book, and poolside service all day.

Hotel Indigo Austin Downtown
Hotel Indigo Austin offers a rooftop pool and bar in Austin at a lower price point. Even though it’s relatively cheap the views are still great, why not grab a drink and cool off? You can see and be seen in your bikini! It’s great.
Thompson Austin has a spectacular rooftop pool befitting a 5 star luxury hotel. It’s perfect for summer, a great place to relax and enjoy a cocktail or three.
Homewood Suites by Hilton Austin Downtown
Homewood Suites is mid priced hotel in a great location and it has a pretty decent pool (for the price in this location). It’s not huge but it’s a nice enough spot to relax, cool off, and show some flesh on a hot summer day.
Holiday Inn Austin -Town Lake
Just outside of downtown (but still walkable) and overlooking Lady Bird Lake is Holiday Inn Austin – Town Lake. For the money this is not a bad option. It’s not a party pool where you rent cabanas and drink cocktails all day. This pool is more suited to families.
Hampton Inn & Suites Austin-Downtown/Convention Center
Can you jump across this pool without getting wet? Why not have a few cocktails then show off your parkour. It’s far from the biggest pool on our list but, it’s on the roof and it’s in downtown Austin.
Other Great Hotel Pools in Austin
Not all great pools are on rooftops. Here’s a few other great Austin Hotel Pools y’all might want to consider.
Hotel Granduca Austin
Hotel Granduca Austin is a 5 star hotel away from downtown Austin with views of Austin’s rolling hill country. It’s a popular spot for Austinites to head for a romantic weekend. It’s also a popular wedding venue. The pool here is nice. It’s not the cool downtown rooftop pool you think of for a trip to Austin, but it’s great if y’all are wanting to get away from the city.
Four Seasons Austin
Four Seasons is 5 star luxury and the pool does not disappoint. Just because it’s not on a rooftop doesn’t mean it isn’t a cool place to relax on a hot day. There’s poolside dining and refreshments of course and it’s open till 10pm which is great if you actually want to swim.
The Carpenter Hotel
The Carpenter Hotel is one of Austin’s coolest. And the pool is every bit a cool as the rooms and the restaurant, Carpenters Hall. Perfect for couples and classy as fuck. This is one Austin’s finest boutique hotels.
The LINE Austin
The LINE is one of the best hotels for couples in all of Austin. The pools not on a rooftop but it is really cool. They have a great walk up bar and poolside tacos. The hotel itself is built where the lake meets downtown in an old jazz club so it has a lot of history and a real boutique feel.
Omni Barton Creek Resort and Spa
If you don’t want to feel like people soup then Omni Barton Creek is awesome. It’s well away from downtown and has plenty of space so they’ve built plenty of pools. And that means you won’t be squashed between a dozen half naked drunks (if you want that try Wet at W Austin on a saturday afternoon). Here at Barton Creek there’s plenty of room.
Hyatt Regency Austin
Hyatt Regency is great for families and couples. The pool overlooks the lake with views across to the city. It’s surrounded by lawn which is a nice change from downtown rooftop pools and the vibe is way more relaxed.
