The Best Hotel Rooftop Pools in Austin

Hotel ZaZa has a kick ass rooftop pool and bar. The pool’s open till 8pm and Cabana Bar closes at 7pm. But the party runs all day with cocktails by the pitcher. The hotel itself is one of Austin’s finest with luxurious rooms and exceptional dining.

W Austin is a high-end luxury hotel with a great rooftop pool aptly named Wet Deck. On weekends it’s an adults only affair, that pool looks like people soup. Picture tattooed arms grasping plastic cocktail cups, tanned flesh spilling out of bikinis, DJs are spinning, and drinks are flowing. It’s not the place to take the kids, it’s a place to make the kids.

JW Marriott has one of the largest hotel pools in Austin, the biggest deck, and great cabanas. The hotel is a really solid 4 star luxury hotel in a great location for couples. Located on 2nd Street it’s between the lake and 6th Street, so there are plenty of options for both daytime fun, and some late night fun after the sun goes down.

Sneaky evening swim under the fairy lights? The pool at the Hilton Austin is really nice and not the party spot of some others on this list. But it’s beautifully clean and has great views of the city. It’s the perfect spot to cool off on a hot Texas day. Nothing relieves a hangover like an early morning swim.

Austin Marriott Downtown is another hotel with a great rooftop pool with stunning views, and a fabulous tiki bar. This is a massive luxury hotel completed in 2021 so everything is nice and modern. It’s right next to the convention center, clearly targeting business travelers, but it’s a great spot for couples too.

The Otis Hotel is on the north edge of downtown close to the UT campus. Because of this its rooftop pool is popular with younger folks. In addition to hotel guests they also sell a pool membership and have some awesome parties. Could be the place if you’re looking for a sugar baby?

Omni has some of the best views from their rooftop pool. It’s a true gem, and it’s open till 11pm which is a lot later than many others on this list. Poolside dining is available until 9pm. The pool area is only open to registered guests so it’s quieter than some other hotel pools in downtown Austin.

Hotel Van Zandt is located in the heart of Austin’s downtown. The rooftop pool is classier than many others with a great fireplace for the evenings and lovely wooden decking. There’s cabanas you can book, and poolside service all day.

East Austin Hotel is a quirky hotel. It’s a little different to most others in its class. For a start there’s a lot of pink. There’s also importantly a really cool rooftop pool and bar.

Thompson Austin has a spectacular rooftop pool befitting a 5 star luxury hotel. It’s perfect for summer, a great place to relax and enjoy a cocktail or three.

Homewood Suites is a mid-priced hotel in a great location, and it has a pretty decent pool (for the price, in this location). It’s not huge but it’s a nice enough spot to relax, cool off, and show some flesh on a hot summer day.

Just outside of downtown (but still walkable), and overlooking Lady Bird Lake, is Holiday Inn Austin – Town Lake. For the money, this is not a bad option. It’s not a party pool where you rent cabanas and drink cocktails all day. This hotel pool is more suited to families.

Four Seasons is 5 star luxury and the pool does not disappoint. Just because it’s not on a rooftop doesn’t mean it isn’t a cool place to relax on a hot day. There’s poolside dining and refreshments of course and it’s open till 10pm which is great if you actually want to swim.

The Carpenter Hotel is one of Austin’s coolest. And the pool is every bit as cool as the rooms and the restaurant, Carpenters Hall. Perfect for couples and very classy. This is one of Austin’s finest boutique hotels.

If you don’t want to feel like people soup then Omni Barton Creek is awesome. It’s well away from downtown and has plenty of space so they’ve built plenty of pools. And that means you won’t be squashed between a dozen half naked drunks (if you want that try Wet at W Austin on a Saturday afternoon). Here at Barton Creek there’s plenty of room.

Hyatt Regency is great for families and couples. The pool overlooks the lake with views across to the city. It’s surrounded by lawn which is a nice change from downtown rooftop pools and the vibe is way more relaxed.

This one’s a bit of a drive from Austin but totally worth it if you’re looking for a romantic weekend. Perhaps more suited to people who live in Austin than visitors. But a great pool.
