Overview

The Otis Hotel in Austin is an attractive new accommodation option really close to the University of Texas. Billing itself as ‘the educated choice,’ it’s clearly targeting visitors to UT. But The Otis is a great option for almost anyone visiting Austin. The location is in a nicer part of town where downtown Austin meets the University campus. It’s close to DKR Texas Memorial Stadium if y’all are in town for football. Still, it’s also close enough to downtown Austin to enjoy the city center too.

Otopia, the rooftop restaurant with its poolside cabanas and classy cocktail bar, is up there with the best in Austin. The combination of excellent views, a well-maintained pool, and superb food (lite bites), and drinks is always a winner. Acre 41 offers more substantial meals in a classy but relaxed setting. While Burger Bar is a clever play on the classic Austin food truck, offering quality burgers at reasonable prices out of a window. Bar AC is the place to meet for a quick drink before going out. Or meet with colleagues at the end of the day before retiring to your room.

Rooms at the Otis are generously sized. Around 300 sq ft for a standard King Room. They are luxurious and modern. Rooms on higher floors have nice views of the city. The bathrooms are clean and contemporary. And in a nice touch, some rooms have record players. So the hotel also has a record collection you can borrow from. For those wanting to stay in shape, The Otis has a small fitness center.

The Otis hotel is suitable for couples, families, and business travellers especially those with business at UT.
